Rod Marinelli was officially introduced this week as the newest head coach for the Lions. Maybe he'll be the first head coach in my lifetime to have a winning record with the Lions. Well, Gary Moeller had a 4-3 record as an interim between Bobby Ross (aka the idiot who chased Barry Sanders away from the game) and Marty Mornhinweg who went 5-27 in his two years here for the worst career winning percentage of a head coach other than John Karcis who was 0-8 in 1942.
I guess only time will tell, but forgive me for not crowning Rod as our savior just yet. I appreciate the fact that he stresses dominance on both lines, and seems to have an attitude that would bring accountability to this team....but isn't that why Bobby Ross was brought in here? To play the hard nosed, throwback guy who would hand out bus tickets to players that didn't do the right thing after everyone got used to the wonderfully quotable clown of a coach before him? The proverbial bad cop to Wayne Fontes' good cop? Sound familiar?
